A baby’s cry – The universal infant’s language. The prior duty of the parent is to find out why the baby is crying. Do not be hasty in action during these situations. The parent should have basic knowledge of the situations where a baby may cry usually.
Ensure that the baby is not crying out of hunger, thirst, restlessness, wetting, insufficient ventilation, etc. Sometimes it may be even a false cry, when picked up it would stop crying. After all these verifications if the baby still continues crying then deal this way.
Examine the baby thoroughly from head to toe. Open the eyelids smoothly and ensure that normal color persists around the eyes-eye rashes and eye discomforts.
Check the body’s temperature-Fever. Check the ears and nose for any infectious injuries.
Diagnose the skin-skin allergies, diseases. Observe the internal breathing process and nose discharge–influenza, asthma. Massage the abdomen gently around the naval with castor oil-excessive heat generation, bowel disorders. Monitor the pulse rate. Observe the anal opening, urinary passage for urinary and anal track infection. Check the genitals, vesicles. Check the groin armpits, behind the knee-heat boils, prickly heat. In boy babies verify the tenderness of the testicles. If situation demands take the baby to the physician.
